Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about listing, managing, and monetizing your Discord bots on BotNexus.

Whether you're a developer preparing your first bot submission or an established creator navigating our monetization tools, you'll find clear answers below. If your question isn't listed, reach out to our support team at support@botnexus.dev.

Getting Started & Listing

Listing Your Bot

How do I submit my bot to BotNexus?

Navigate to List Your Bot in the top navigation bar and fill out the submission form. You'll need your bot's Discord Application ID, a valid invite link, a short description (max 280 characters), and at least one screenshot showing your bot in action. Submissions are reviewed within 24–48 hours by our curation team.

Is there a fee to list a bot on BotNexus?

No. Listing your bot is completely free. BotNexus generates revenue through our premium placement program and enterprise API access — never from basic listings. Every bot that passes review gets a public profile page with analytics, vote tracking, and a developer dashboard at zero cost.

What information do I need to prepare before submitting?

Have the following ready: your bot's Discord Application ID (found in the Developer Portal), a 128×128 px avatar, a concise tagline, a full description (up to 2,000 characters), a valid server invite with bot permissions, up to 5 feature screenshots, and a list of supported commands or slash commands. You'll also need to assign at least one category (e.g., Moderation, Music, Utility, Leveling).

How long does the review process take?

Most submissions are reviewed within 24 hours on business days. During peak periods — such as the weekend before a major gaming convention — review times may extend to 48 hours. You'll receive an email notification to the address on file once your bot is approved or if changes are requested.

Can I update my bot's information after it's listed?

Yes. Log in to your BotNexus developer dashboard, select your bot, and click Edit Listing. Changes to descriptions, categories, and screenshots go live immediately. Changes to your bot's invite link or Application ID require a new review cycle to ensure the updated bot matches the listed information.

What categories are available for bot listings?

We currently support 18 categories: Moderation, Music, Utility, Leveling & XP, Economy, Fun & Games, Anime, Roleplay, Ticketing, Logging, Welcome & Goodbye, Translation, Streaming, Developer Tools, Analytics, Security, Education, and Custom. You can assign up to three categories per bot.

Account & Moderation

Bans, Suspensions & Appeals

Why was my bot removed or my account banned?

Bots are removed and accounts are banned for violations of our Developer Terms of Service, which include: distributing malware or phishing payloads, impersonating official Discord bots, scraping or abusing Discord APIs in violation of their Terms of Service, hosting NSFW content without proper restriction, and engaging in vote-manipulation schemes. You'll receive a detailed email explaining the specific violation before any action is taken.

What's the difference between a warning, a suspension, and a permanent ban?

Warnings are issued for minor or first-time infractions — such as an outdated invite link or a misleading description. You have 7 days to resolve the issue. Suspensions last 14–30 days for repeated violations or moderate policy breaches. Permanent bans are reserved for severe offenses: distributing malicious code, fraudulent payment activity, or repeated API abuse. Suspended accounts can be reinstated after the period expires; permanent bans require a formal appeal.

How do I appeal a ban or suspension?

Submit an appeal through our Appeals Portal. Include your BotNexus username, the email associated with your account, a clear description of what happened, and any evidence supporting your case. Appeals are reviewed by a senior moderator within 5 business days. Note that submitting multiple appeals for the same case will not expedite the process.

Can I create a new account if my previous one was banned?

No. Creating a new account to circumvent a ban is itself a violation and will result in an immediate, non-appealable ban on the new account. All appeals must go through the official Appeals Portal. If your appeal is denied, BotNexus reserves the right to permanently block associated Discord accounts and email addresses.

What happens to my bot's data if my account is suspended?

During a suspension, your bot's listing is hidden from search results and category pages. Your analytics data, vote history, and developer dashboard remain intact and accessible once your account is reinstated. If a suspension escalates to a permanent ban, your listing is removed entirely, but you can request a data export within 30 days of the ban notification.

Monetization & Premium

Payments, Payouts & Premium Features

How does BotNexus Premium work?

BotNexus Premium is a monthly subscription at $7.99/month that gives your bot a featured placement in category listings, a verified badge on your profile, access to advanced analytics (including hourly vote tracking and geographic server distribution), and priority review status for listing updates. You can cancel anytime — your premium benefits remain active until the end of your billing cycle.

Can users pay to vote for my bot?

No. Vote purchasing is strictly prohibited and results in an immediate permanent ban. Every vote on BotNexus must be organic and tied to a verified Discord account. We use rate-limiting, IP analysis, and behavioral heuristics to detect and remove fraudulent votes. Bots caught buying votes have those votes purged and their ranking recalculated.

How do I receive payouts from the BotNexus revenue-sharing program?

Eligible developers earn revenue share from our premium placement ads and sponsored listings. Payouts are processed monthly via PayPal or Stripe Connect. The minimum payout threshold is $25. Payments are issued on the 15th of each month for the prior calendar month. You can view your earnings dashboard under Monetization → Payouts in your developer panel.

What payment methods do you accept for Premium subscriptions?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) through our Stripe payment processor. We also support PayPal subscriptions. All transactions are encrypted and PCI-DSS compliant. BotNexus does not store your full card number on our servers.

Can I get a refund for a Premium subscription?

Yes. We offer a full refund for Premium subscriptions cancelled within the first 14 days of a billing cycle. After 14 days, refunds are prorated based on remaining days in the cycle. To request a refund, contact support@botnexus.dev with your account email and the date of your most recent charge. Refunds are processed within 5–7 business days.

What is the BotNexus API and is it free?

The BotNexus REST API lets developers programmatically fetch bot listings, vote counts, category data, and user statistics. The free tier allows 100 requests per hour with a standard API key. Our Enterprise API tier ($49/month) increases the limit to 5,000 requests per hour, adds webhook support for real-time vote events, and includes dedicated support. Register for an API key in your developer dashboard under Settings → API Access.
